Bridge Builder Awards

At the Building Bridges Luncheon, we honored two incredible community members with Bridge Builder Awards for their decades of service to North Clackamas students, educators, and families. Please meet them below and appreciate the incredible impact they have had on our community.

First, we honored Cindy Detchon. A proud NCSD graduate, Cindy's 30+ year career included roles as a high school teacher, principal, district director, and most recently, Assistant Superintendent of Operations before retiring in 2024. She played a key role in 41 capital construction projects and was a dedicated district liaison with the Foundation, building vital connections between schools and the community. Cindy's passion and dedication have left a lasting positive impact on countless students and our community, truly embodying the spirit of a "Bridge Builder." Thank you, Cindy!

Second, we honored Deb Barnes. Prior to establishing the Broadcasting and Journalism department at Sabin-Schellenberg, Deb was a news reporter, anchor, and News Director.  For 30 years she helped students learn the importance of reporting fairly and accurately as news reporters on the campus radio and television stations and district student online newspapers.  She also had the opportunity to work as the Campaign Press Secretary for Congressman Kurt Schrader.  She was President of NCEA and an OEA Vice President.  She is now “retired” after working on local political campaigns with FuturePAC. Thank you for your incredible contributions to our community, Deb!
