Recent Teacher Grants 📚
Your gifts have funded a number of innovative projects in the North Clackamas School District this fall, including:
—Every Student Reads, which sent books home with Sunnyside Elementary first-graders so they can practice reading even when they lack library access
—Zoom-friendly picture books, for teaching Social Justice Standards to fourth- and fifth-graders at Happy Valley Elementary
—Kingsman Thunder Drumline, Putnam High School's vital drum line program, which is still operating virtually
—Growing Readers, which delivered books to Sunnyside Elementary third-graders to increase their access to books during distance learning
—Student dictionaries, which help Happy Valley Elementary first-grade students in reading and writing by providing them with the student-friendly Quick-Word Handbook for Beginning Writers
—Whiteboards for All, which provided every student at Scouters Mountain Elementary with whiteboards, erasers and pens so they can show their thinking and teachers can honor and assess their level of understanding of lessons over Zoom
—BIPOC Authors in the Middle School Classroom, which will give eight Alder Creek, Rowe, Happy Valley and Rock Creek Middle School teachers young adult novels written by BIPOC authors for their classroom libraries. This project includes department-wide book talks!
